Average salary drops in August

The net nominal average earning drops in August 2013 by 31 lei (-1.9%) compared to the previous month, down to 1,604 RON, according to National Institute of Statistics.

The highest values of net average salary were in oil and natural gas, almost 4,000 lei, while the lowest value was recorded in hotels and restaurants – 884 lei.

Regarding the gross nominal average earning, it was 2,219 lei in August, 1.8% lower than in July 2013, according to the same sources. Declines in August can be explained by occasional awards in July (holiday bonuses, meal vouchers and gift vouchers) or lower revenues.

Telecommunications, manufacture of motor vehicles, research, water transport and basic pharmaceuticals are areas that have recorded the largest decreases in salaries.
